
The AOP Assistants Awards
The AOP Assistants Awards showcases the best images from the next generation of professional photographers. Winners from the AOP Assistants Awards regularly go on to win at the AOP Photographers Awards and success in the Assistants Awards often results in making the leap into professional photography. The standard of entries was high and it was a difficult task for the judging panel to select the final 80 images that forms the 2011 exhibition.
AOP Assistant Awards 2011
This year AOP Assistants Awards Exhibition, Presentation and Party took place at the Hoxton Gallery located in the heart of Shoreditch. The Gallery is based at 12-18 Hoxton Street, London N1 6NG, only a short walk from Old Street tube and at the centre of east London's creative scene.
The AOP Assistants Awards show opened for one night only, on Thursday 6th October.
This year the party preceded by two free talks aimed specifically at Assistants. These specialist events touched on issues of contemporary photography and offered general career advice, followed by an informal discussion.

Harry Hardie, Founder of Here talked about how to get on the photographic radar, and stay there. He talked and offered advice on how to get exhibited and published (in both books and magazines), and how it helps to be more than just a photographer.

Photographer Simon Norfolk talked on how inspiration, research and personal project work could be used as an essential tool for artistic production as well as a strong marketing tool.
